The fine engravings below are by Charles Edward Faxon (see also D. C. Eaton ) and cut from the first edition of Charles Sprague Sargent's (1841-1927) very scarce, multi-volume Silva of North America: A Description of the Trees Which Grow Naturally in North America Exclusive of Mexico, published in Boston and New York byHoughton, Mifflin and Co., 1890-1902.  The plates, engraved by Philibert and Eugene Picart, are printed on good, very heavy paper and are in excellent condition--just touch of darkening around the periphery.   Sargent's work was reproduced by the University of California in the 1930s, but the plates below are from the original edition.

Size: 14 x 10.5 inches (page)
