Bird Eggs

The exquisite chromolithographs below are by John Ridgway and cut from Charles Bendire's Life Histories of North American Birds, With Special Reference to Their Breeding Habits and Eggs, a volume in the Smithsonian Contributions to Knowledge series, published in Washington by the Government Printing Office, 1892

The plates are printed on heavy stock with almost no age toning.  Lithography by Ketterlinus, Philadelphia.  These plates of bird eggs are among the finest ever printed.
