These stunning hand-colored engravings and lithographs are cut from the Magazine of Botany and Register of Flowering Plants,edited by Joseph Paxton and published in London between 1834 and 1849 .  The  Magazine of Botany is one of the most highly celebrated botanical series ever produced. Rich in color and expertly rendered, these plates are in superb condition, with clean, fresh surfaces and almost no trace of wear.  Plates were drawn and engraved by F. W. Smith or drawn and lithographed by S. Holden.  These plates are in exceptionally fine condition. Paxton is also renowned for his design of the Crystal Palace and for having successfully cultivated the waterlilly Victoria regia in England.
