The colored wood engravings (xylographs ) below are cut from the fifth edition of the History of British Butterlies, published in 1870 by George Bell, London.  These exquisite wood engravings, or xylographs, were made from multiple blocks, prepared and printed by Benjamin Fawcett, and based on watercolors of A. Francis Lydon.
