These stunning and rare hand-colored engravings are cut from Benjamin Maund's celebrated periodical The Botanist: Containing Accurately Coloured Figures, of Tender and Hardy Ornamental Plants, with Descriptions, Scientific and Popular, published from 1836 to 1842 . The plates are by Miss Taylor, Miss S. Maund, Miss Mintern, Miss Nicholson, J. S. Henslow and others. Engraved by S. Watts, Nevitt, and Smith. The tissue guards did not cover the entire plate, so there may be some very light age toning in the left, top, and bottom margins.
