cut from William
Hemsley Emory's (1811-1887) classic Report on the United States-Mexican Boundary
Survey, Under the Direction of
the Secretary of the Interior, etc., printed by Cornelius Wendel
and published in Washington, 1857-59 . J.
H. Richard (see) is the general artist. R. Metzeroth
did most of the mammalian skulls.
This important survey, conducted between 1848 and 1853,
reported on the people, topography, and biology of the American
Southwest. Emory, a competent cartographer and engineer, became
one of the foremost authorities on the American Southwest.
These engravings are printed on heavy
stock and the paper is very white.
Overall, a clean set with virtually no foxing or other flaws.
