| William R. Dykes Irises The stunning three-color process plates below are cut from the first edition of William Rickatson Dykes' (1877-1925) classic work The Genus Iris, published by Cambridge University Press, 1913. The artist is F. H. Round. The Genus Iris is one of the legendary books in the history of gardening. In this monograph, Dykes established the modern classification of irises, describing them fully (down to pollen) and sorting out synonyms and errors in literature. The folio plates are printed on heavy, semi-glossy stock and are in excellent condition with very little age toning. Note that the plates are cropped in the photos below; the actual prints are whole and intact with all plate markings. |
