The plates below are cut from the first quarto edition of Gerorges Buffon's classic multi-volume Histoire Naturelle, General et Particuliere avec la Description du Cabinet du Roi, published in Paris by L'Imprimerie Royale, 1749-78. The artist is Jacques de Seve. Note: The plates shown here were fold-outs attached to extending sheets and may have some glue and paper residue along the left edge. A few of the plates were cut slightly at an angle. The plates have minimal age toning consistent with their age. They are clean and free of foxing. |
