 The copper-plate engravings on these pages are cut from George Louis Leclerc, le comte de Buffon's (1707 -1788), classic Histoire Naturelle, Générale et Particulière, 1769. The Natural History was first published in 1749 and ran to 36 volumes. These plates from this later French edition are in excellent condition but have toned a light, more or less even, beige, so they may be slightly darker than the photos suggest. Small Format |
